Visit Amazing Thailand

Thailand gears up for the tourist season!

Over 1000 travel agents and media from all over the world attended the ‘Visit Amazing Thailand 2009’ gala dinner last week at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok.

Invitation is a project initiated as part of the Visit Thailand Year 2008-2009 to increase inbound tourism traffic as well as encourage locals to travel within the country instead of going abroad. However, as the tourism industry has been through a series of backlashes including the oil price crisis, political unrest and the current slump in the financial sector, Invitation becomes more than just an ordinary project that will face the challenge of boosting up the current slowdown in tourism.

Checking in on the long haul

Of course, the Fishmans’ pals have ample time to stay on the phone and express their bewilderment; they’re waiting for the plumber to show up and fix the condo’s leaky toilet, for the cable guy who was due 2 hours ago to install broadband, for the repairman to replace the torn screen on the door leading to the deck. Which, from the way, needs restaining.
